The Charities
It was not easy selecting the charities as there are so many amazing charities out there. After much consideration here are my selected three...
1. ST LUKE'S HOSPICE is a charity dear to my heart because it allowed me the environment to say my goodbye to someone very special. Having volunteered at the hospice for over two years since this time has only made me realise even more about this charity. I have seen first hand the care they provide and the difference they make, not only to the patient's but to the family and friends who come to visit their loved one who is living out their last days. During my 4 months, I will volunteer more hours at the hospice and will be helping in a variety of ways.
2. 240 PROJECT is a which charity looks after socially excluded and vulnerable adults, helping them to find their way with the aim of empowering them with the confidence to integrate back into society. I spoke to a number of charities and went to visit the project during the Easter Weekend. When I entered the premises and met the staff and watched people in the the centre, I knew it was going to be one of the charities. The cause is so genuine and the difference it makes to those who attend was evident on the face of each and every member that was there.
3. THE HONEYPOT - CHILDREN'S CHARITY I have read a lot about this charity which focusses on young carers aged between 5 and 12. However, when I was invited for some training, I got to see the charity at work and was completely blown away by how special it is and the difference it makes. Childhood years are precious and this charity really helps to make them so. During my 4 months I will be involved in assisting with the childhood respite breaks, which give the child a break, away from their responsibilities as a young carer.
The latest total is: £31,526.71
Thank you all for your support and touching messages. The total is increasing at a phenomenal rate and this will make such a huge difference to our three amazing charities :)
Big hugs and lots of love,
